Who Are The Knights of Columbus?
Knights of Columbus are Catholic gentlemen eighteen years and older. Knights are committed to the exemplification of charity, unity, fraternity, patriotism, and defense of the priesthood. The Order is consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Order is unequivocal in its loyalty to the Pope, the Vicar of Christ on earth. It is firmly committed to the protection of human life, from conception to natural death, and to the preservation and defense of the family. Brother Knights work to fulfill the central mission of the Order: striving in charitable works; serving the Church and unified in following its teachings; supporting brother Knights in their temporal and spiritual needs; acting for the good of their country; and giving aid to widows, orphans, the sick and the poor.
The Knights of Columbus Council 8669 is more then a fraternal organization. Imagine being part of an organization that fills your heart and your mind with the joy of giving to others and the feeling that comes with making a difference. We’re involved in the community. We support Good Shepherd Catholic Church and its priests, activities and events. Knights serve the church as ushers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, Catechists and take care of the ground maintenance. We volunteer and serve on the Country Breakfast, Soup and Dessert, Thursday Night Bingo and Youth Group activities. You’ll see us on Palm Sunday weekend raise moneys for Special Olympics. On Friday nights after Labor Day weekend through Good Friday we operate a Fish Fry. The proceeds from our Fish Fry over the years have helped support, Needy families, Montrose Special Olympics, Special Needs Scouting, Parish Fall Festival, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Lunch Buddies, Montrose Community Schools, Coats for Kids, Boysville of Michigan, Holy Cross Children Services, Good Shepherd Family Life Center, Youth Free Throw Contest , Tootsie Roll Drive, and the Montrose Food Pantry.
